  I have been very disappointed in the one-sided coverage of Columbus High recently. It would appear that you are, without due cause or process, denigrating the finest school in town and its dedicated, hard-working and honest staff, including the principal, Ms. Bryant. The accusations included in both your articles and letters to the editor are unfounded or incomplete. Many of these outsiders have no connection to CHS or the truth at all, but they are still allowed to voice their opinions about something...

  I had the pleasure of attending the Alabama/Georgia game last weekend with quite a few other Bama fans. I would like to commend the University of Georgia and their fans for the class they displayed before, during and after the game. At the student center they even had beautiful banners welcoming Alabama fans, something you do not see when we roll into town. The UGA fans were the most hospitable I have ever seen in the SEC towards the visiting fans.

  We are about to witness a terrible waste in Georgia. With this year's freshmen will come the largest dropout problem this state has ever seen. Georgia, in some kind of misguided mission, has determined that this year's freshmen can take college material, quickly taught so the teachers can cover more college material, and that the students will do well.

  Every day I see more headlines: "Big risk to taxpayers in Fannie/Freddie takeover" (9/9): This plan is the beginning of another S&L bailout similar to the one from 1989 during the Reagan presidency. And if this administration succeeds in ramming this down the taxpayers' throats, even more government intervention will follow, including the auto industry and the credit card industry.

  Recently I had the privilege to attend a concert that was given by the Harris County High School Band, joined by the Villa Rica High School Band and Chorus groups. This was a free concert and open to the public. It was the most moving and beautiful concert.
