Synovus awards $134,000 in scholarships
Regional bankholding company Synovus Financial Corp. said Tuesday it has awarded 99 scholarships, amounting to $134,000, to children of Synovus employees in five states.
Columbus-based Synovus has given more than $1 million in scholarphis since 1988. The money is raised through employee donations and fund-raising events.
The program honors the late Jack B. Parker, who exhibited an "enthusiastic attitude, keen sense of duty and good heart" throughout his 44-year career, the company said. The program is managed through the Jack Parker Foundation Inc.
Synovus oversees more than $33 billion in assets through its 36 banks in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida and Tennessee.
