Carmike Cinemas to pay dividend of 17.5 cents

Movie theater chain Carmike Cinemas Inc. said Tuesday it will pay a quarterly cash dividend of 17.5 cents per share.

The dividend will be paid Aug. 1 to shareholders of record at close of business July 11.

Columbus-based Carmike operates 262 theaters with 2,339 screens in 36 states. It has two first-run theaters in Columbus and another at Fort Benning, with a discount movie house adjacent to Peachtree Mall.

The company's shares (Ticker: CKEC) closed down 5 cents to $5.82 per share in trading Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange. That's near the 52-week low of $3.77 per share. The 52-week high is $22.35 per share.
